Knockout Cup

Leiston won the 2016/17 Suffolk Super League KO Cup, beating Clapgate Lane in an exciting final at Kesgrave Social Club.

Leiston moved into the final with a comfortable 8-2 win over Lake Lothing in the semi, while Clapgate Lane came back from 6-3 down to Haverhill on a team game decider in their semi final.

In the final Clapgate Lane once again came back from the dead, 5-1 down after the pairs, they pulled back to 7-4 in the singles – leaving Leiston needing just one win from the final three legs. But Clapgate stayed in the game to draw level at 7-7 with wins by Peter Squirrell, Martin Weiss and Kevin Harris.

But Leiston proved too strong in the tiebreaking team game to take the cup after a highly exciting night of darts at county HQ.

Leiston’s winning team was: Lee Newson (capt), Arron Fairweather, Ryan Meikle, Steph Brown, Andy Meikle, Carl Brennan, Liam Last, Andy Noy, Dave Ballard-Flatt.
